Why she might be annoying:

She admitted to having a stereotypical genteel Southern belle upbringing: ‘I was all those things that Southern girls long to be: homecoming queen in the white formal, then Centennial Queen of Fairburn, riding on a float in an organdy dress.’
When she first received a letter from a Doubleday editor suggesting that she write a book, she thought it was a prank and ignored the offer.
She claimed that she got so distracted from everyday activities while writing that she once put her kitten in the refrigerator and an orange juice carton out the back door.

Why she might not be annoying:

She gained national attention as a student at Auburn when she was fired from the college newspaper after writing a pro-integration editorial.
Pat Conroy said about the frequent comparisons made between her an another Southern writer, ‘She is covering the territory Margaret Mitchell would’ve cover if she’d lived. The difference is that Anne is a much better writer.’
She departed from her usual style to write the supernatural thriller ‘The House Next Door,’ which Stephen King hailed as one of the best horror novels of the 20th century.
