Musicians

The Resume

Why they might be annoying:

They are a manufactured pop group.
They had a heated rivalry with boy band One True Voice, from Pop Stars: The Rivals.
They and One True Voice competed publicly for the #1 Christmas Song of 2002 and their attitudes toward each other weren't in the Christmas spirit.
One True Voice's manager, Pete Waterman, said he would commit suicide if his boy band lost to them in their battle for the #1 slot for Christmas 2002. So when Girls Aloud hit #1 for Christmas, their manager, Louis Walsh, urged Waterman 'to kill himself' live on TV.
Walsh said '... so maybe Pete should do us all a favor and end it now. In fact, why not do it on live TV? That would be really great entertainment.'
Keith of One True Voice said: 'The girls are trying everything they can to get to number one but they haven't got the talent.'
Daniel of One True Voice said: 'The girls can't sing live. They can't harmonize. When they tried to record their single for SM:TV, they were so bad they ended up miming.'
Their management barred them from attending award shows and parties, because they felt the public might tire of them.
Their first tour, scheduled for March 2003, a joint venture with One True Voice, was cancelled because ticket sales were far less than expected. Their manager, Louis Walsh, claimed that the public wasn't interested in One True Voice and that hurt ticket sales.
Natalie and Nicole Appleton changed the name of their album from 'Aloud' to 'Everything's Eventual' prior to its February 24, 2003 release, so as not to even have a hint of a relationship with Girls Aloud.
They are just vocalists and do not write any of their songs nor do they play any instruments.
They have little diversity in the group (each have almost a similar look).
Possibly the best vocalist on the show, Javine Hylton lost and did not become a member of the group.

Why they might not be annoying:

They beat One True Voice in the battle to be #1 for Christmas 2002.
Three of the girls, Sarah Harding, Cheryl Tweedy and Nadine Coyle made the FHM 2003 Sexiest Women List.
They had a #1 hit just weeks after forming.
