Why he might be annoying:

He had a cameo in movies such as the 1998 turkey 'BASEketball' (1998) and the 2001 Freddie Prinze, Jr. vehicle, 'Summer Catch.'
He was given the nickname, 'the broadcaster of everything.'
In an ego move, he purchased a radio station in Massachusetts in 1963 and changed the call letters to WCGY.

Why he might not be annoying:

He called games for all three networks, and for many major sporting events, including 13 World Series and nine Super Bowls.
He called games for the AFL for its entire existence, well into its merger with the NFL.
In 1970, he was the first sportscaster to win the Peabody Award.
In 1995, he was elected to the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
The Basketball Hall of Fame has an award named in his honor.
He was one of the few people born in Wyoming to be famous.
