Why he might be annoying
He married his cousin.
He and his wife separated after several incidents of domestic violence.
He had a nervous breakdown (2002).
His father said of his behavior, ‘He would become angry and he shouted…. He would break anything he saw in front of him.'
He was fired from a job as a delivery truck driver after falling asleep at the wheel of his vehicle (January, 2016).
He received a six-month suspended sentence for having attacked a motorist with a wooden pallet after a traffic accident (March, 2016).
In the weeks before the attack, he obsessively searched the internet for jihadist propaganda, notably ISIL beheadings.
He also conducted a lot of research on Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen.
A few hours before the attack, he sent his brother pictures of himself laughing among the holiday crowd.
Ironically, 30 of the people he killed were fellow Muslims.
Why he might not be annoying
Until a few months before the attack, he had not been particularly religious: he almost never attended mosque and had never observed Ramadan.
He serves as a warning for how fast a person can become radicalized.
He was fatally shot by French police.
