He actually looked like a stereotypical castaway.
He let his hair grow out of control.
He once worked as a grave digger.
When asked to list his favorite books, he wrote 'books about snakes.'
He suffers from insecurity and is easily enraged.
He won an internet poll as favorite Survivor All-Star and was awared $1,000,000 (May 13, 2004).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of the most popular 'Survivor' contestants to date and was the star of the 'Pearl Islands' edition.
He did the majority of work around camp.
He was not ashamed to wear a woman's dress while on the island.
He was heavily favored to win 'Survivor.'
He is proud of becoming independent/self-employed to better care for his family.
When he was thrown off the show, a number of 'Survivor' fans wrote that the show had lost its edge.
