    She became the first African-American to model on the cover of a women's magazine.
    After graduating Harvard, she went on to work with companies like TJ Maxx and Laura Ashley.
    She had her own fashion line which featured crisp white button-down blouses.
    She said of her trailblazing career: 'We're not where we need to be, but we're so much farther than where we were, because believe me, I've lived it... the celebration of Black beauty is something that is very, very new, and has a long way to go.'
