The Resume

    (February 5, 1901-April 21, 1986)
    Born in Oakland, California
    Actress and artist
Paintings include 'Taos Ceremony,' 'Taos Man Seated,' and 'Man in Cloak'
Appeared in the films 'Mourning Becomes Electra' (1947), 'That Forsyte Woman' (1949), 'Zombies of Mora Tau' (1957), 'The Atomic Brain' (1963), 'Mary Poppins' (1964), 'The Trouble with Angels' (1966), 'Yours, Mine and Ours' (1968), 'Hammersmith Is Out' (1972) and 'Crackers' (1984)
Appeared as Emperor Palpatine in 'The Empire Strikes Back' (1980)

Why she might be annoying:

She eventually gave up painting, having been unable to earn a living at it.
Because she was not listed in the credits for 'The Empire Strikes Back' and her face was hidden behind heavy makeup (and a chimpanzee's eyes were superimposed over hers for an 'Uncanny Valley' effect), her participation in the film went unrecognized for years.
The book 'The Making of the Empire Strikes Back' incorrectly credited the role to makeup artist Rick Baker's wife Elaine. (Elaine Baker had actually been a model for the makeup tests.)
For the DVD of 'The Empire Strikes Back,' her scene was refilmed with Ian McDiarmid to provide better continuity with 'Return of the Jedi' and the prequels.

Why she might not be annoying:

She lived at Mabel Dodge Luhan's artist colony in Taos, New Mexico.
She shared a studio with sculptor Louise Nevelson.
She was good friends with artists Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, who invited her to Mexico, where she stayed for three years.
The style of her work was described as 'casual yet intimate.'
