    Directed the shorts 'Midnight in a Toy Shop' (1930), 'Old King Cole' (1933), 'Mickey's Steam Roller' (1934), 'Who Killed Cock Robin' (1935), 'Three Orphan Kittens' (1935), 'Little Hiawatha' (1937), Magician Mickey' (1937), and 'The Whalers' (1938)
    Supervising director of the feature films 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' (1937) and 'Bambi' (1942)
    With J. Arthur Rank, founded Gaumont British Animation (1946)
    Produced the 'Animaland' (1946-48) and 'Musical Paintbox' (1948-50) series of animated shorts
    Named a Disney Legend (1994)

Why he might be annoying:

    Several fellow Disney animators complained that his style was 'too mechanical.'
    He was unable to the shorts he produced with Gaumont distributed in the US, resulting in the company going bankrupt (1951).
    The collapse of Gaumont scuttled his plans for animated features adapted from Lewis Carroll<11257>'s 'The Hunting of the Snark' and <1866>H.G. Wells' 'The First Men in the Moon.'
    He created animated ads for Esso (Exxon).

Why he might not be annoying:

    Before joining Disney, he worked on Max Fleischer's 'Out of the Inkwell' cartoons.
    Frank Thomas noted that while there were better artists at the studio, 'Dave was the better organizer and driver.'
    When 'Three Orphan Kittens' won the Oscar for Best Short Subject (Cartoon), the statuette went to Walt.
    'Snow White' was the first animated film included in the National Film Registry of 'culturally, historically or aesthetically significant films.'
