    (May 22, 1951- )
    Born in Rochester, New York
With his cousin, Angelo Buono Jr., committed the Hillside Strangler killings
The pair raped, tortured and murdered ten girls and women between the ages of 12 and 28 in the Los Angeles area (October 1977-February 1978)
Solo, murdered two more women in Washington state (January 11, 1979)
Pled guilty to the Washington murders and five of the Hillside Strangler killings; sentenced to life in prison (1980)
Considered a suspect in the unsolved 'Alphabet murders' of three women in the Rochester area (1971-73)
His adoptive mother called him 'a compulsive liar who had risen from the cradle dissembling.'
He frequently worked as a security guard, using the job as an opportunity to steal valuables.
Before launching the Hillside Strangler killings, he and Buono kidnapped two women and forced them into prostitution.
While committing the murders, he attended several LAPD ride alongs with officers searching for the Hillside Stranglers.
After being caught, he faked multiple personality disorder in hopes of being found not guilty by reason of insanity.
When that didn't work, he cut a deal and agreed to testify against Buono.
His actual testimony in Buono's trial was incoherent and self-contradictory.
He convinced Veronica Compton, a woman who had fallen in love with him after meeting him in prison, to make it look like the authorities had gotten the wrong man by strangling a woman and planting his semen (smuggled to her in a rubber glove) at the scene.
His mother was a prostitute who gave him up for adoption two weeks after he was born.
He and Buono let one potential victim go without harm after learning she was the daughter of Peter Lorre.
Although he ultimately turned uncooperative, his pretrial interviews with detectives enabled them to find physical evidence to link Buono to the killings.
Compton failed in her murder attempt and went to jail for the crime.
Compton eventually dumped him for 'Sunset Strip Killer' Doug Clark. (How fickle.)
