Despite declaring his own presidential candidacy, he still encouraged people to vote for Ron Paul.
He supported the legalization of marijuana.
He switched to the Libertarian Party after his bid to earn the Republican presidential nomination failed to gain traction.
Was a guy who supported some degree of abortion rights really going to win the Republican presidential primary?
He was labeled the most fiscally conservative Governor in the United States.

Why he might not be annoying:

He started a door-to-door handyman business in college as the sole employee, and 20 years later, he turned that idea into a company with 1,000 employees.
A true rarity, he was able to accomplish a balanced budget as Governor of New Mexico.
He believes drug dependency should be treated like a mental health issue instead of a criminal issue.
He evolved from supporting civil unions to making a strong case for gay marriage.
He climbed Mount Everest and competed in the famed Ironman Triathlon Championship.
His campaign website says he believes decisions should be made on a cost-benefit analysis rather than being based on strict ideology.
