Why he might be annoying:

He was declared ineligible for college athletics as a senior after accepting money from the Indians in return for agreeing to play for Cleveland after graduation.
His ankles were bad enough to get him declared 4-F during World War II, but not bad enough to stop him from playing pro baseball.
He was nicknamed 'Boy Wonder' after being named manager at age 24.
He had a contentious relationship with Indians owner Bill Veeck.

At the University of Illinois, he was captain of the baseball and basketball teams.
Bob Feller said, 'He had the looks of a matinee idol.'
He and Della DeRuiter were married for 61 years.
When the Indians became the first AL team to integrate, he defused the tension by personally taking Larry Doby around the clubhouse and introducing him to the team (1947).
Bowie Kuhn said, 'There are hitters in the Hall of Fame with higher batting averages, but I do not believe there is in the Hall of Fame a baseball man who brought more use of intellect to the game than Lou Boudreau.'
