The Resume

    (December 17, 1973- )
    Born in Silver Spring, Maryland
Directed ‘Brick’ (2005), ‘The Brothers Bloom’ (2008), ‘Looper’ (2012), ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ (2017), and ‘Knives Out’ (2019)

Why he might be annoying:

His reason as a ‘Star Wars’ fan for identifying with Luke instead of Han: ‘Han Solo was cool, but I was not cool growing up.’
He spent seven years pitching the script for ‘Brick’ without success until he convinced relatives to pony up the $450,000 needed for production.
‘The Last Jedi’ was divisive, with many complaints that it tried to undo the story set up in ‘The Force Awakens’ rather than build on it.

Why he might not be annoying:

He won a Directors Guild Award for directing the Breaking Bad episode ‘Fifty One.’
He has used the same producer (Ram Bergman), cinematographer (Steve Yedlin), and editor (Bob Ducsay) in most of his films.
He cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Noah Segan in all of his films through ‘Knives Out’ (including bit parts in ‘The Last Jedi’).
’Last Jedi’ actress Kelly Marie Tran said, ‘He has this sort of child-like wonder that not many people have. Anybody who gets to work with him is just the luckiest.’
