The Resume

    (November 4, 1940- )
    Born in Lubbock, Texas
Singer, guitarist, pianist, and harmonica player
Recorded the single ‘Giving It Up For Your Love’ (1980)
Recorded the albums ‘Victim of Life’s Circumstances’ (1975), ‘The Jealous Kind’ (1980), ‘Live from Austin’ (1987), ‘Never Been Rocked Enough’ (1992), ‘Nothing Personal’ (2001), ‘Cost of Living’ (2005), and ‘Pick of the Litter’ (2017)

Why he might be annoying:

Early on, he recorded as Mac Clinton.
ABC Records unsuccessfully marketed him as an ‘outlaw country’ singer in the mid-1970s.
He is a one-hit wonder on the pop charts, with ‘Giving It Up For Your Love’ his only Top 40 hit.
He has a history of bad luck with record companies: ‘Three record companies folded while I had a song in the Billboard Hot 100.’
He admits that the 1980s are a blur to him because of his excessive drug intake.

Why he might not be annoying:

As a teen he played in a bar band backing blues artists like Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King, Jimmy Reed, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
While touring England with Channel, he gave lessons in playing blues harmonica to John Lennon.
He earned a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for a duet with Bonnie Raitt, and two Grammys for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Rolling Stone magazine called him ‘the godfather of Americana music.’
Lyle Lovett said, ‘If we could all sing like we want to, we’d all sound like Delbert McClinton.’
