Why he might be annoying:

    During his stint with the Panthers, his teams failed to repeat the success following the franchise's first Stanley Cup Finals appearance.
    During his second season behind the Panthers bench, his team led the league with 19 ties (1996-97).
    His tenure with the Blue Jackets was marred with inconsistency.
    He had a habit of frequently employing people from his home province of Prince Edward Island, regardless of pro experience at the management level.
    He frequetly acquired players who were either on the decline or past their prime.
    He squandered away some of the Blue Jackets first round draft picks on players such as Nikolai Zherdev and Gilbert Brule.
    He was so desperate to return to the NHL in any capacity, he accepted an advisoral role for Jim Balsillie when Balsillie attempted to purchase and relocate the Phoenix Coyotes, despite his initial objections to the latter.

Why he might not be annoying:

    During his stint with the Red Wings, he orchestrated the trade that brought Kris Draper to the team for a dollar.
    He guided the Florida Panthers to the Stanley Cup Finals during the franchise's third season.
    He was the first general manager in the history of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
    His most noteworthy acquisition for the Blue Jackets franchise trading up two spots to select franchise cornerstone Rick Nashwith the first overall pick (2002).
    He got his start at coaching in the Canadian University ranks.
    He coached the Eastern Conference All-Star team during his first NHL season (1996).
    While the franchise was unsuccessful on the ice during his tenure as GM, he was able to sell the game of hockey in both the city of Columbus and the state of Ohio.
