    Graduate of the University of Nebraska
    Drafted as a running back in the 2nd round and the 49th pick of the 1983 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers
    Played for the 49ers (1983-1990), the Los Angeles Raiders (1991) and the Minnesota Vikings (1992-1993)
    Ended his career with 8,189 rushing yards, 73 touchdowns and 4 Pro Bowl invites
    1988 NFL Offensive Player of the Year
    Played in Super Bowls XIX, XXIII and XXIV

    He was mostly a backup in his final two years in the league.
    He joined the 49ers after they already had become a force in the league.
    He shares his name with a former baseball player.
    He had a high-knee running style that could have exposed him to injury.

    He attended the Pro Bowl as a halfback and a fullback.
    When he graduated from Nebraska, he held the record for the longest run from scrimmage (94 yards).
    He is the only running back in the NFL to lead the league in receptions.
    He was flexible and could be used in any capacity on the team.
