Why Jarvis Island might be annoying:

The Sun constantly burns down on the island.
Jarvis is a coral sandy island with a narrow reef fringe
Up until the late 1800s, guano was removed from the island.

Why Jarvis Island might not be annoying:

The island has some feral cats and is home to nesting birds.
On the Island's western end is a weather station at Millersville settlement.
It helped the allies from 1935 till the end of World War II.
During the International Geophysical Year, scientists returned to the island for a few months (1957-58).
Scientists and educators may visit the island by special permit.
The US Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service is the authority for the island.
The island has a day beacon to help out ships travelling nearby.
The US Coast Guard visits the island annually to make sure everything is okay.
