He served in the British armed forces in France, surviving capture by the Germans and rising to the rank of Captain.
During WW II, he single handedly captured a German patrol with just his pistol, he got them to surrender.
He graduated Oxford.
He revolutionized our approach to the philosophy of art.
He sparked interest in Minimalism without being egregious about it.
Despite being a poor teacher, he was genuinely concerned with his students' education, and would go out of his way to assist them in his courses.
