Why he might be annoying:

He went by the nickname 'Butch' during his career.
He wore the same helmet that he wore at age 12 during his career, often spray painting it to match the team's uniform color.
He attempted a comeback in active play a year after being fired as Bruins head coach.
During his career, he had a reputation of being the NHL's worst-dressed player.
Despite his success as a minor league head coach, his tenure as an NHL head coach was disastrous as his teams would often finish near the bottom of the league standings.
He played hockey skating barefoot and using Velcro straps on his skates instead of the conventional lacing method.

His trade to the Islanders was widely considered a steal as he was an integral part of the team during the dynasty years.
He had a reputation as being a clean player, recording 102 career penalty minutes over 1,000 career games.
He reached the 30 goal plateau four times during his career.
In addition to his classiness, he was considered a well rounded player who excelled at the game.
Many hockey pundits felt his stint as Islanders head coach was disastrous as a result of the unstable ownership situation at the time.
He was the first NHL player to wear a helmet during play.
