    (April 18, 1480-June 24, 1519)
    Born in Rome, Italy
    Daughter of Pope Alexander VI
    Sister of Cesare Borgia
Married to Giovanni Sforza, Lord of Pesaro; Alfonso of Aragon, Duke of Bisceglie; and Alfonso d'Este, Prince of Ferrara
Her first husband accused her of having incestuous affairs with her brother Cesare and her father.
At the annulment of her first marriage, she was declared a virgin, despite being six months pregnant.
She took the place of the Pope at an official Vatican meeting.
She had a long-term affair with her third husband's brother.
Most historians think that her reputation as a serial poisoner was a fiction created by enemies of the Borgias.
She and her third husband turned Ferrara into a leading center of the Italian Renaissance.
She inspired a play by Victor Hugo and an opera by Gaetano Donizetti.
