    He began performing as a cafe singer and comedian at age 10.
    He had large, horse-like teeth.
    A lot of his later movies were forgettable.
    He was a beloved icon of French cinema.
    He was named a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
    He was mentioned in Albert Camus's novel 'The Stranger.'
    He did a memorable wordless interview with Philippe Halsman in which the answers were photos of his facial expressions. (The profile pciture shows his response to 'As a Frenchman, what do you think of the American sweater girls?')
