The Resume

    (May 10, 1979-March 16, 2003)
    Born in Olympia, Washington
Member of the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement (ISM)
Died trying to obstruct an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Caterpillar bulldozer operating in Hai as-Salam in the Gaza Strip

Why she might be annoying:

She tried to take on a bulldozer and lost.
The ISM claims she was deliberately run over while the Israeli government concluded the driver had been unable to see her.
The ISM said the bulldozer was demolishing the house of a local pharmacist, while the IDF said it was clearing brush and debris to uncover tunnels used by Hamas to smuggle weapons.
The ISM posted photos on their website that they claimed showed the events leading to her death, in which she is in the driver's line of sight.
However, the photos were actually taken over several hours and showed at least two different bulldozers.
British journalist Tom Gross wrote, 'Thanks partly to the efforts of Corrie and her fellow activists, the flow of explosives from Egypt into Gaza continued -- and were later used to kill children in southern Israel.'
Her parents tried to sue Caterpillar over the role their equipment played in her death.
A month before her death, she burned a drawing of an American flag during a protest against the Iraq war.

Why she might not be annoying:

She stood up for her cause.
Because the bulldozers have several blindspots, Israeli army regulations require that other soldiers assist in directing the driver but the procedure was not followed on the day of Corrie's death.
An IDF spokesman told 'The Guardian' that although it did not accept responsibility for her death, it would change procedures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
A memorial service at the spot where she died was broken up by an Israeli tank spraying tear gas.
US Representative Brian Baird introduced a resolution calling on the US to conduct an independent investigation of her death.
Alan Rickman directed the play 'My Name Is Rachel Corrie' in London (2005).
