Why he might be annoying:

    He divorced actress Melinda Dillon.
He starred in three sitcoms that were cancelled after a single season: ‘Family Man’ (1988), ‘The Fanelli Boys’ (1990-91) and ‘Pacific Station’ (191-92).
He never liked having to live in LA to do film and TV work, commenting, ‘Maybe if I got to be a bigger name, I could live in Connecticut and just come out here to do a job.’
He had a vaguely ‘ethnic’ appearance that resulted in his being cast as everything from an Italian godfather in ‘Soap’ to a Latin American dictator in ‘The In-Laws’ to an Eastern mystic in ‘All of Me.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He credited growing up in a house where both Italian and English were spoken with developing his ear for accents.
He was an original member of Chicago’s famed Second City improv troupe.
He was an original cast member in ‘The Mad Show,’ an off-Broadway musical comedy produced by MAD magazine (1966).
He appeared in two episodes of NBC’s ‘Aquarius’ while battling cancer (2015).
