The Resume

    (October 8, 1932- )
Born in Tredegar, Wales, United Kingdom
    Snooker player
    Won six World Championships (1970,1973-76,1978)
Named a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to sport (1985)

Why he might be annoying:

He dropped out of school at 14 to become a miner.
He was nicknamed Dracula because of his prominent widow's peak.
He left professional snooker partly because his contact lenses kept drying out under TV lights (1992).
He said about snooker, 'It's like food really. If someone were to say, 'Could you live without snooker?' I couldn't, no.'

Why he might not be annoying:

After being trapped by a rockfall for three hours, he left the mines and became a police officer.
Despite what you might think from that 'Dracula' nickname, he had a genial, outgoing personality.
His entertaining style of play helped make snooker a popular televised sport in Britain.
He won his first major tournament, the Welsh amateur title, at age 17 and his last, the Professional Players Tournament, at age 50.
