    Born in Cadiz, Spain
    Composed the operas ‘The Brief Life’ (1905) and ‘Master Peter’s Puppet Show’ (1923)
    Composed music for the ballets ‘Love, the Magician’ (1915) and ‘The Three-Cornered Hat’ (1919)
    Other compositions include ‘Seven Spanish Folksongs’ (1914), ‘Nights in the Gardens of Spain’ (1915), ‘Fantasia Betica’ (1919), and ‘Harpsichord Concerto’ (1926)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a hypochondriac who was terrified of drafts.
    He believed the full moon was harmful to his health.
    Although he won a prize for ‘The Brief Life’ in 1905, it would not be staged publicly for another eight years.
    He spent his last two decades writing the cantata ‘Atlantida,’ which remained unfinished at his death.
    AllMusic described his music as ‘difficult to peg.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He is widely regarded as the greatest Spanish composer of the 20th century.
    The sets and costumes for ‘The Three Cornered Hat’ were designed by Picasso.
    He moved to Argentina after the Fascist victory in Spain and refused when Francisco Franco offered him a large pension to return.
    His portrait appeared on Spain’s 100-pesata notes (1970-82).
