    His Yankees career lasted only 12 games. It ended after he suffered a hip injury, and he was eventually replaced by Babe Ruth.

    Fritz Pollard blamed Halas for keeping him out of the league in the 1930's and 1940's.

    He coached the Bears to an NFL-record 73-0 win over the Redskins.
    With the Bears in the 1920's, he was a wide receiver, the team's part-owner, and was the coach of the team.
    He convinced Red Grange to join the Bears.
    He only had 6 losing seasons in his 40 years of coaching.
    He changed his once-racist ways and drafted the NFL's first ever black quarterback.
    He pioneered the coaching technique of watching film on the other team to find weaknesses.
    The NFC's championship trophy is named after him.
    He was amongst the first people elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
    The Bears have GSH on the sleeve of their jerseys as a tribute to Halas.
