The Resume

    (September 19, 1933-September 25, 2023)
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
Ilya Kuryakin on ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ and Donald Mallard on ‘Navy NCIS’
Film credits include ‘A Night to Remember (1958),’ ‘The Great Escape (1963),’ ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965),’ ‘Casino Royale (1967, uncredited cameo)’ and various 'Man from U.N.C.L.E.' films

Why he might be annoying:

The role of Kuryakin was supposed to be no more than a walk-on.
One of his theatrical special effects – meant to duplicate flying debris – left the audience covered in black paint and the theater with a huge dry-cleaning bill.
He was initially typecast as a mixed-up younger brother.
He proposed to Jill Ireland within a week of meeting her for the first time.
He was described as far too shy to stand a chance in the uninhibited Tinseltown.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His parents were classical musicians.
As female fans of U.N.C.L.E. took to him almost immediately, the Kuryakin character became permanent.
He considered his home his ‘one sure refuge’ — especially with fans of Kuryakin constantly mobbing him at personal appearances.
He became knowledgeable enough with forensics to be considered as a technical adviser for the NCIS show.
He personally endorsed the unofficial fan-run website in his name.
Appeared in a classic 'Outer Limits' episode 'Sixth Finger' in which he evolves into the man of the future (1963).
