Why he might be annoying:

He conquered the city of Samarkand, learned of a rebellion in his native Farghana, marched back to put down the rebellion, only to have his troops left in Samarkand desert, leaving him with neither city.
He entertained so lavishly that by the time of his death the treasury was nearly empty and soldiers were being asked to return a third of their income.
Although a Sunni Muslim, he adopted Shia ways to get military aid from Persia.
Although a Muslim, he drank heavily.
When he finally quit drinking two years before his death, he ordered that everyone in his court do the same.

Why he might not be annoying:

He became ruler of Farghana at age twelve.
He adopted new technology, using matchlock muskets from the Ottoman Empire to defeat an army four times larger than his during the conquest of northern India.
He tried to recreate the gardens of Kabul, which he considered the world's most beautiful, in each of his provinces.
His memoirs, the Baburnama, are considered the first true autobiography in Islamic literature.
He wrote, 'Everyone regrets drinking and swears an oath [of abstinence]; I swore the oath and regret that.'
