    (September 15, 1904-November 17, 1988)
Born in Leeds, England, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Lily Shiel
Wrote the syndicated gossip columns 'Hollywood Today' (1935-41,1945-69) and 'Hollywood Everywhere' (1969-71)
All three of her marriages ended in divorce.
She later admitted that her daughter Wendy had been fathered by philosopher A.J. Ayer and not her second husband.
She had a long-term affair with F. Scott Fitzgerald while his wife Zelda was institutionalized.
She said, 'I'll only be remembered, if I'm remembered at all, because of Scott Fitzgerald.'
She said her main asset as a writer was 'salable mediocrity.'
After the deaths of fellow gossip columnists Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, she called herself 'the last of the unholy trio.'
She was placed in an orphanage at age six after her father died of tuberculosis and her mother was unable to provide for her.
She said, "I was never a mistress. I was a woman who loved Scott Fitzgerald for better or worse until he died.'
She worked as a war correspondent in England during WWII.
She had the ability to make or break show biz careers.
At her peak, her column was carried in 178 papers, compared to 100 for Parsons and 68 for Hopper.
After Constance Bennett said, 'It's hard to believe that a girl as pretty as you is the biggest bitch in Hollywood,' she replied, 'Not the biggest, Connie. The second-biggest bitch.'
