    (December 6, 1803-April 8, 1885)
    Birth name was Susanna Strickland
    Relocated to rural Canada (1832)
Wrote ‘Roughing It in the Bush (1852)’ and ‘Life in the Clearings (1853)’
    Her hometown was called ‘Bungay.’
    She was a snob.

Margaret Atwood accused her of falsifying history for her (supposedly nonfiction) books.
She looked like Truman Capote in drag.
She had a good imagination and sense of humor.
    She wrote children’s books.
Her accounts of pioneer life were extremely popular in their time.
    She was a passionate abolitionist.
    One of her children drowned.
She went insane at the end of her life.
