    He was a journeyman player.
    He played on three different teams in a two year span.
    He prefers to go by his middle name instead of his birth name of Jose.
    He caused confusion when he announced his retirement from winter baseball when he didn't clarify his intentions.
    His managerial style has beeb described as being too intense by baseball pundits.
    As a result of an MLB investigation detailing his role in the Houston Astros cheating scandal, and an investigation into his 2018 Boston Red Sox team, he was fired as Red Sox manager (January 14, 2020).

    He made his major league debut with the Dodgers in an interleague game against the Mariners, which his older brother, Joey was a member of at the the time (1998).
    He was considered a reliable infielder who was able to excel defensively in key moments of a game.
    He served as a broadcaster for three years before deciding to pursue a career in coaching.
    He, along with Dave Roberts made history at the 2018 World Series by being the first two visible minority managers go head to head against each other.
    He guided the Red Sox to a franchise record 108 victories in his first season at the helm (2018).
    He was the first manager in 17 years to win a World Series in his first year at the helm.
