Born in Glen Cove, New York
    United States Marine
    Served from 1899-1929
Won the Congressional Medal of Honor twice
Also won the Navy Cross and the Distinguished Service Cross
Served during the Boxer Rebellion, the occupation of Haiti, and WWI
He was in no danger of winning any medals for personality.
His Navy Cross and Distinguished Service Cross were for the same action.
When you are a legend among United States Marines, you are a legend.
He was only five foot six and barely 130 pounds.
During the action that won him the Navy Cross and DSC, he rallied his men to an attack with the legendary battle cry of 'Come on you son's of bitches. Do you want to live forever!'
He once turned down an officer's commission saying he'd rather be a good sergeant than just another officer.
    He was a deadly shot.
