Automaker

The Resume

    (August 27, 1877-July 12, 1910)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Automotive and aviation pioneer
    Co-founder of Rolls-Royce (1906)
First Briton killed in an airplane crash

Why he might be annoying:

He was born into the wealthy aristocracy.
Although he had majored in Mechanical and Applied Science at Cambridge, his duties at Rolls-Royce were sales and publicity, while Henry Royce handled the engineering.
He quit Rolls-Royce after unsuccessfully trying to convince Royce to design aircraft engines.
Ironically, by the 1920s, aircraft engines had passed cars as Rolls-Royce's principal business.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a founding member of the Automobile Club of Great Britain (1897) and the Royal Aero Club (1903).
He set a world land speed record of 93 mph (1903).
He was the first pilot to fly across the English Channel and back non-stop (June 2, 1910).
His exploits had made him so famous that debate in the House of Lords was interrupted to announce his death.
