Best known for playing the title role in 'Dolemite' (1975)
Acted in ‘The Human Tornado’ (1976), ‘The Money Hu$tle’ (1976), ‘Petey Wheatstraw’ (1977), ‘Disco Godfather’ (1980), and ‘B*A*P*S’ (1997)
Recorded ‘21st Century Dolemite,’ ‘Dolemite For President,’ ‘Eat Out More Often,’ ‘Good ole Big Ones,’ ‘Hully Gully Fever,’ and ‘This Ain’t No White Christmas’

Why he might be annoying:

He was best remembered as the articulate pimp Dolemite.
During the 60’s and 70’s, his stage acts were so explicit, he was kept off of mainstream television.
He posed nude on his album covers.
‘Dolemite’ was filled with technical errors (crew or equipment are visible in some of the scenes, fighters clearly miss each other during the fight scenes, etc.). He also used African American stereotypes to an over exaggerated level.
Some of his latter day films went straight to video.

Why he might not be annoying:

He honed his comedic skills in the Army.
Along with Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx, he paved the way for other African American comedians like Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock.
Despite ‘Dolemite’ being as a poor quality film, it reached cult status.
Moore made history by being the first ‘soul’ artist to have two albums topped the Billboard’s Top 50 (1970).
