The Resume

    (January 3, 106-December 7, 43 BC)
Full name was Marcus Tullius Cicero
Wrote 'The Republic and the Laws' and 'On the Good Life'

Why he might be annoying:

He stole Achille's motto, 'to always be the best and overtop the rest.'
He married and divorced Publilia in the same year.
After uncovering the conspiracy of Catiline in 63 BCE, he ordered five of the conspirators to be executed without trial.
He was driven into exile by one of Julius Caesar's followers, over his refusal to align himself with them. He was forced to live at least 500 miles away from the Italian peninsula and lost all of his property.
He witnessed the assassination of Julius Caesar.
He delivered a series of speeches, known as the Philippics, that were scathing attacks on Marc Antony.
The Philippics led to Antony calling for the death of Cicero, his son, his brother, and his nephew.
After Cicero was murdered, his head and hands were cut off and nailed to the Senate's speaker's podium.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of the greatest orators who ever lived.
He was poor, yet was able to work his way into Roman politics through an impressive law career.
He was a philosopher that believed in action, and applied his theories to his political work.
After serving in the military, he learned to despise war.
As soon as he was old enough to run for a political office, he would run and won every office (quaestor, aedile, praetor, and consul) on his first try.
He refused to join the First Triumvirate, preferring to try and restore the Roman Republic.
After a year and a half of exile, his property was returned and he was allowed to move back to Rome.
He translated works from Greek to Latin, and created Latin words to express concepts that had no words in his native tongue (the English words 'morals,' 'property,' 'individual,' 'science,' 'image' and 'appetite' all come from him).
