    Auguste Lumière (October 19, 1862-April 10, 1954)
    Louis Lumière (October 5, 1864-June 6, 1948)
Invented the cinematographe (1895), a machine that project films onto a screen to an audience
Filmed 'Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory (1895),' 'Watering the Gardener,'
Their film making careers spanned less than a decade.
They saw no future for the film industry that they helped create.
Auguste lost interest in the cinematographe immediately after it was completed.
Many historians believe that December 28, 1895 is the birth of cinema; the day that Louis first unveiled to the general public a series of short films that he photographed (considered the world's first film projected screening to an audience).
They popularized a documentary style of film making, then known as actualities.
Louis has been considered the 'Father of Cinema.'
