    He began as a member of a doo-wop outfit called the Ambassadors.
    He loved gospel and jazz.
    His nephew is Cold 187um of rap outfit Above the Law.
    Ironically, while he helped countless artists to stardom – even with the Foxy Brown soundtrack – he was never a particularly big name on his own.
    He had six children.
    Mere hours after he gave words to ‘I’ll Be There,’ the Jackson Five were recording the song.
    In addition to writing some of the material they performed, he received a producer’s credit for the 5th Dimension’s debut album ‘Up Up and Away.’
    He produced Smokey Robinson’s first solo CD.
