Why he might be annoying:

He never broke past 2% of the vote when the Baseball Writers of America were deciding if he was worthy of the Hall of Fame.
He is one of several Hall of Famers who got in mainly by being teammates of Veterans Committee members Frankie Frisch and Bill Terry.
Bill James called him ‘the worst player in the Hall of Fame.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He led the National League in home runs once (1921) and RBIs twice (1920,1924).
He had a reputation as a clutch hitter, with Giants manager John McGraw saying there was no player he preferred to have at bat in a critical situation.
He was an excellent defensive player, with his footwork and positioning becoming the standard for first basemen taking the relay throw from the outfield.
