Why he might be annoying:

    He inspired the word ‘mercurial,’ indicating an erratic or volatile individual.
    He was largely equated with Hermes, who also possessed a caduceus, purse, and winged shoes (talaria) and changed his name to Mercury.
    He was a notorious prankster.
    Celtic mythology depicted him as having a few heads.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a fast little bugger, both physically and mentally, and therefore considered a model of diplomacy.
    He was held in high regard by the jurisdictions affected by the Roman Empire.
    Julius Caesar regarded him as the inventor of all entertainment.
    His likeness is on the Florists’ Transworld Delivery (FTD) logo while his name is used for specific subdivisions.
