Voice Actress

The Resume

    (October 12, 1924-December 30, 1995)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Was the voice of Lunchlady Doris on The Simpsons and Doris Grossman on 'The Critic'
Appeared in the film 'The Distinguished Gentleman' (1992)

Why she might be annoying:

Her two most famous characters shared her first name.
    She had a raspy voice.
She smoked heavily, which contributed to her death from respiratory failure.
'The Simpsons' initially retired Lunchlady Doris out of respect (similar to the retirement of Phil Hartman's characters Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure), but after a decade the character returned with Tress MacNeille providing her voice.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was also a script supervisor, working on movies like 'Point Blank' (1967), 'King Kong' (1976) and 'Clue' (1985), and on the TV series Cheers, 'The Tracey Ullman Show' and 'The Simpsons.'
Matt Groening said, 'Her calm, positive outlook did a lot to soothe my jangled nerves.'
'The Simpsons' episode 'Team Homer' was dedicated to her memory.
