The Resume

    (September 18, 1948-August 5, 2001)
    Born in Melbourne , Australia
Businessman who became a fugitive after the collapse of his company Quintex in 1989
Fled to the Spanish island Majorca where he fought extradition for the rest of his life

Why he might be annoying:

He was one of Australia’s most wanted fugitives.
After the collapse of his company, he fled from Australia to Spain owing $700 million dollars in debt and leaving his company's credit holders with a loss of 1.5 billion.
    He filed for bankruptcy (1989).
    He grew up rich.
He indulged heavily in his wealth and spent his money on overly expensive homes and possessions.
His office featured a decorating glass dome containing one million dollars in shredded hundred dollar bills.
While in Majorca, he appeared in public wearing an oxygen mask and in a wheelchair in an effort to make it look he was too sick to be flown back to Australia.
During this period, tourists in Majorca filmed him walking freely down a beach and swimming in his pool.
The Australian Government cancelled his passport, but he soon obtained Dominican citizenship and he could never possibly be deported back to Australia.
The Australian government spent over three million dollars trying to recover his debts.
He died before he could be charged, leaving his wife to deal the debts he owed.
He was the subject of an awful Australian comedy movie ‘Lets Get Skase’(2001).

Why he might not be annoying:

His company Quintex, at its height, was worth $2.2 billion, originally from an investment of $15,000.
He tried to purchase MGM Studios before his business collapse, but was lured out by an even bigger corporate monger Rupert Murdoch.
His daughter-in-law claimed he was not a criminal and had been in line with the corporate standards that applied in Australia in the 1980s.
He was somewhat of a scapegoat for many other businessmen in Australia whose businesses crashed in 90’s and 80’s.
He built many luxury resorts across Australia.
He died of stomach cancer at age 52.
