    She didn't use a doctor until she was in college.
    She has been an avid and outspoken liberal, prompting Rush Limbaugh to dub her 'America's #1 National Embarrassment.'
    She believes illicit drugs should be legalized.
    During an AIDS conference at the United Nations she made comments about teens and masturbation. It was deemed too controversial by conservatives.
    Shortly thereafter, the fire storm intensified and Clinton asked for (and received) her resignation.
    She spoke at the Arkansas State Capitol hearing in favor of legalizing medical marijuana (March 2002), but the legislation died a year later.
    She enlisted in the U.S Army for 3 years (1953-56).
    While working as assistant professor in pediatrics at the University of Arkansas Medical Center she received a National Institutes of Health career development award (1967).
    The university promoted her to associate professor (1971) and full professor (1976).
    She is considered an expert on childhood sexual development and hormone-related illnesses. She has written several articles for medical research publications.
    She has received numerous awards, multiple honorary doctorate of letters degrees and honorary doctorate of medical sciences degrees.
    She remains true to her views and convictions.
    She once said of masturbation, 'Nobody needs to give anyone a demonstration. What we need to do is stop telling them you're going to go blind, you're going to go crazy. We need to be honest and tell them, well, it's a normal part of sexuality, and if you're going to do it, do it in private.'
    Quoted during Senate hearings on her conformation: 'I want to change the way we think about health by putting prevention first. I want to be the voice and vision of the poor and powerless. I want to change concern about social problems that affect health into commitment. And I would like to make every child born in America a wanted child.'
