Biblical Character
    Wife of Nabal
Married the future King David after Nabal's death
Appears in the First Book of Samuel
Came to David's attention by bringing him food and drink to apologize for her husband's rudeness
Her first husband was an asshole.
She defended and made excuses for her husband to David.
She is regularly depicted as being on her knees in Biblical art.
It remains unclear exactly how her husband died, other than that 'God struck him dead' ten days after she tells him of her deed helping David (heart attack?)
Another interpretation of this line might be that he 'accidentally' walked into a sharp or blunt object during a heated domestic argument before being 'struck down' by the hand of Yahweh (just saying!)
Her name means 'my father's joy' or 'source of joy.'
Her husband was an alcoholic who probably beat her.
She is described as beautiful, intelligent, and compassionate.
She saved her husband from being killed by David (and then he died anyway).
She accompanied David and his war band when they sought refuge in Philistine territory.
David cheated on her with Bathsheba (in all fairness this was a polygamous marriage).
She is listed as one of the seven Jewish women prophets (putting her in the company of Esther and Miriam).
