Best known for his opera 'Carmen (1875)'
Also wrote 'Les pecheurs de perles (1863)'

Why he might be annoying:

He was absent-minded.
He once lost the score for his new symphony before showing it to anyone.
His teacher, composer Charles Gounod, accused him of plagiarizing his melodies in 'Carmen.'
'Carmen' was originally a flop.
The prostitute who lived next door to him gave him a key to her house, so he could 'compose in peace' whenever he wanted to (is that what they called it back then?).
His future wife's family was outraged by the arrangement with the prostitute.
He looked like George Lucas.
His marriage was unhappy (maybe he should have stuck with the prostitute).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an excellent pianist.
Somebody once dumped a chamber pot on his head from an upstairs window.
He had to battle with censors over the strong sexuality in 'Carmen.'
He died shortly after the opera's premiere, and never knew of its later success.
When Richard Wagner saw the opera, he said: 'At last, someone with new ideas.'
'Carmen' has remained one of the most popular operas of all time.
It inspired pop versions starring Dorothy Dandridge and Beyonce, not to mention an episode of 'Gilligan's Island.'
