Acted in 'To Hell and Back (1955),' 'The Left Handed Gun (1958),' 'The Alamo (1960),' 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962),' 'Black Like Me (1964),' 'The Great Race (1965),' 'Bonnie and Clyde (1967),' '5 Card Stud (1968),' 'Escape to Witch Mountain (1975),' 'Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976)' and 'Maverick (1994)'
Died of lung cancer on Christmas day at age 77

Why he might be annoying:

His middle name is Dell, named after his parents favorite Colorado city. (so what's up with Denver?)
He dropped out of college to become a drummer. He then worked on shrimp boats and in oil fields.
He claimed to be wounded in Guadalcanal while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, but Navy records do not indicate this.
He did a TV commercial promoting AMC (1995).

Why he might not be annoying:

Impressed with his camera skills, John Wayne personally made him set photographer for the film 'The Alamo' (though he went uncredited).
Thanks in part to Westerns and his many TV series roles and guest shots, he was in at least one movie or TV show every year between 1947 and 1988 (41 straight years).
He received a Star on the Walk of Fame two weeks before he died, gravely ill he attended the ceremony.
