    Appeared on Broadway in ‘Dark of the Moon’ (1945), ‘Time Out for Ginger’ (1952-53), ‘A Visit to a Small Planet’ (1957-58), ‘Make a Million’ (1958-59), ‘Sunday in New York’ (1961-62), ‘The Front Page’ (1969-70), and ‘Same Time, Next Year’ (1975-78)
    He said he never attended high school.
    He was married three times, divorced twice.
    He was dropped from the second season of ‘Mork and Mindy’ when ABC retooled the show to appeal to younger audiences.
    He was brought back for the third season of ‘Mork and Mindy,’ as ABC attempted to undo its changes in the wake of plummeting ratings.
    He is also a respected jazz trombonist.
    He was a self-taught musician, picking up most of his technique by watching Kid Ory in concert.
    He assembled a group of aging jazz greats dubbed the Beverly Hills Unlisted Jazz Band, which made eight sold-out appearances at Carnegie Hall.
