Why he might be annoying:

He smokes.
He married 'Andromeda' star and every Sci-Fi nerd's fantasy girl, Lexa Doig (August 2, 2002).
He left 'SG-1' in season 6 only to return in season 7.
His character wasn't killed, but 'ascended' to a higher plane of existence. He 'came back to Earth' in the season 7 premiere.
He dated his on-screen girlfriend early in the series.

Why he might not be annoying:

He plays the nerdy archaeologist character rather well.
He's a major reason for the success of 'Stargate SG-1.'
He got into acting after he failed calculus at the University of British Columbia.
He was inspired into pursuing acting after seeing a shoot of an episode of MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson's last series before SG-1).
He is a big Vancouver Canucks fan.
He directed a season 4 episode of 'SG-1.'
