U.S. Congressman

The Resume

    (October 4, 1980- )
    Born in Boston, Massachusetts
Birth name is Joseph Patrick Kennedy III
    Represents Massachusetts's 4th congressional district (January 3, 2013-January 2, 2021 )
Son of former Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II
    Grandson of Robert F. Kennedy
Former assistant district attorney for the Cape, Islands and Middlesex offices
Delivered the Democratic Party response to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address (January 30, 2018)

Why he might be annoying:

His political career was predicated on dynastic politics.
He is listed as one of the 25 richest men in Congress.
His net worth is estimated as being between $18 and $43 Million, largely a combination of investment and trust funds.
His largest stake in an individual enterprise would be Exxon Mobil, but that doesn't include his multi-million dollar holdings in the Pharmaceutical world, including the manufacturer of the controversially high-priced hepatitis-C drug; Gildead Sciences Inc.
He took part in the self-serving Capitol 'sit-in' for gun control in the aftermath of the Pulse Nightclub shootings, leading several watchdog groups to call for ethics investigations into whether they had violated rules prohibiting fundraising on the House floor (the protest ended shortly thereafter).
His youth and family background has inevitably rendered him a favorite among viable contender for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination, despite his having a micro-thin legislative resume.
His response to the President's State of the Union address - while adequate - drew more viral attention for what appeared to be either drool, chap-stick, or a combination of the two at the corners of his mouth, which struck some viewers as distracting.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is a passionate and eloquent public speaker.
He was roommates with Jason Collins at Stanford.
He spent two years working with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.
He co-founded an empowerment program for at-risk teens in Jamaica Plain.
He worked with the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau to help low-income tenants facing eviction during the foreclosure crisis in 2008.
He met his wife in a class at Harvard that was taught by Elizabeth Warren. (whom he would later introduce at the 2016 Democratic National Convention).
Tomi Lahren issued a rare apology after referring to him as 'little limp dick' in an Instagram video panning his SOTU response.
