He spent more than 40 years in the Phoenix Suns' front office without witnessing the team win a championship.
He was influential in bringing the Winnipeg Jets to the non-traditional hockey market of Phoenix, Arizona.
He donated more than $100,000 to the Republican Party and various Republican candidates.
His official website not-so humbly described him as 'clearly one of the most inspiring and passionate men in sports history.'
As a keynote speaker for hire, his inspirational topics included 'finding your inner strength' and 'creating your own Dream Team.'
He put the Diamondbacks in dire straits as the team was $150 million in debt due to deferred contract payments.

Why he might not be annoying:

He played basketball and baseball at the University of Illinois.
He survived prostate cancer.
He guided the Arizona Diamondbacks to a World Series title (2001).
As Director of USA Basketball, he saw the US Men's Basketball team take the gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (2004).
