    She helped an illegal immigrant find work at her neighbor's house, which lost her the bid for Secretary of Labor.
    While running for Senate in Maryland, she reportedly accused her unmarried opponent Barbara Mikulski of being a lesbian.
    She is a member of William Donohue's Catholic League.
    She is sometimes confused with a liberal activist with the same name.

Why she might not be annoying:

    During a debate on gun control, Bonnie Erbe told Chavez that she was more likely to get struck by lightning than be raped at her age.
    Even though she lost the election, she received more votes than any Maryland Republican in a generation.
    She was the first Hispanic woman to be nominated to the United States cabinet.
