Religious Figure
    (circa 1935-June 20, 1997)
    Born in Canary Islands, Spain
Con artist who made a career of posing as a former Catholic Jesuit priest/bishop and making up tales of the horrors he discovered inside the Catholic Church
Books either written by him or inspired by him include; 'Alberto,' 'Double Cross,' 'The Godfathers,' and 'The Prophet'
Full name: Alberto Magno Romero Rivera
He was charged and/or convicted for fraud, credit card theft, and writing bad checks in Spain, New Jersey, and Florida.
He claimed to have been a member of the Jesuits and a Catholic priest and bishop, but was exposed as a phony by protestant magazines, 'Christianity Today' and 'Cornerstone.'
Among his claims were; the Jesuits started Freemasonry, the Catholic Church started Communism, Nazism, Islam, and both World Wars and were behind the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln and JFK.
Also the Pope is the Antichrist and the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon mentioned in the Bible.
He never provided any evidence that he was a Jesuit or that he was ever ordained a priest let alone a bishop.
He was married with two children during the time he claimed to have been serving as a celibate priest.
You have to give him credit for being good at what he did.
He exposed some serious idiots, (Jack Chick and company) for what they were.
He died broke and alone of colorectal cancer.
Some of his claims were so wild that he effectively discredited himself before he was ever exposed publicly.
He did not engage in any violent crimes.
